Dr. Ahmed G. Hegazi is working as a professor of Microbiology & Immunology at National Research Center, Dept. Zoonotic Diseases from 2004.He also has work experience as prestigious chair in Dept.of Parasitology and Animal Diseases, National Research Center. He received many awards like Senior Scientist Prize of National Research Center(1996),National Scientific Prize In Biological Sciences(1990),The Second Best Research Paper award From International Congress of propolis, Bones Aires, Argentina(2000) and many more. He Conducted training courses on Clinical Microbiology, National Research Center in 1979. He has 230 articles in national and international scientific journals along with six patents.

Microbiology and Immunology

Dr. Apt received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, her Master's Degree in Sociology from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts, and her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She also has a certificate of French Studies from Ecole Lemania in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr. Apt is a Professor of Sociology and the Coordinator of the Sociology Program at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she has been for 20 years. She teaches courses in Human Sexuality, Medical Sociology, Social problems, and the Sociology of Genocide; in 2011 she was honored as the South Carolina State University Professor of the Year. Dr. Apt is a member of several editorial boards and is a Consulting Member of the South Carolina Medical Association Bioethics Committee. In addition to her experience as an author and newspaper and magazine columnist, Dr. Apt is the host of a live, call-in talk radio show entitled, "Talk to Me," which addresses issues of sexuality and relationships. It is broadcast on 90.3 FM, WSSB, an NPR affiliate.

Sociology

Haitham Sayed is a molecular biotechnologist professional with more than 25 years’ experience in the molecular crops breeding, particularly in Barley. He holds Ph.D. in molecular breeding for fungal disease resistance in scald and powdery mildew, under the main title of “Identification of DNA markers for Selection of Disease Resistance Genes in Barley”. He has development his scientific carrier at (the International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas; ICARDA) from 1990-2007. During his work at ICARDA he has Carried out and led the work in genetic linkage mapping for qualitative and quantitative traits (QTLs), DNA marker Assisted Selection (MAS), Genetic Diversity (GD) in in barley and wheat. He has been worked at RISOE National Laboratory and KVL, Copenhagen, Denmark for more than one year as visiting scientist on mapping and QTLs in barley. He has been Established the biotechnology department in Aleppo University in Syria and He has been the head of Biotechnology department, Faculty of Technological Engineering, in Aleppo, Syria for three years (2005-2008). In the same time, he has worked as Prof. assistant form (2005-2016). He taught many courses such as (genetics, molecular genetics, molecular biology, molecular biotechnology, biodiversity, biosafety and bioinformatics). Also, he has supervised more than 15 Master and Ph.D. students. He has been vice-Director of Biotechnology Centre from 2014-2016, at Aleppo university, Syria. He published alone two books (Fundamental Genetics and Molecular Genetics). He was co-author in many other books (Vegetal cellular biology, Microbiology, Biodiversity and Genetic Researches conservation). He also participated as co-author in one chapter in the volume 2 of the book (Genomics applications in Crops) under the title of “Molecular Approaches and Breeding Strategies for Drought Tolerance in Barley” which is published in 2007. He joined the Institute of Molecular Cell and System Biology, Glasgow University, UK, in 2016 as a Researcher to work on Genome Editing using CRISPR/Cas9 techniques.

Molecular Biotechnology; My research has focused on DNA markers for selection of disease resistance genes in Barley. I am also interested in genetic mapping for qualitative and quantitative traits (QTL). I have also been involved in other research areas on genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 techniques on Barley, Arabidopsis and Brassica.

Pietro Mastroeni is a Reader in Infection and Immunity, University of Cambridge. Coming to his education He completed his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 1990 at the University of Messina, Italy. He also did his Doctor of Philosophy, Department of Pathology and Darwin College, University of Cambridge between 1991-1994. In 1992-96 he did his tenured lectureship in Infectious Diseases at University of Messina, Italy. He worked as a Research Associate at the University of Newcastle, Department of Microbiology, The Medical School, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK in 1997.He did as a Research Fellow (1997-1999), Department of Biochemistry, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London, UK. Worked as a University Lecturer in Microbiology, Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Cambridge from 1999-2004.And also worked as a University Senior Lecturer in Microbiology, Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Cambridge in 2004-2008. My research has focused on the interplay between bacterial pathogenesis and the immune system as the foundation for vaccine development and improved antibiotic therapy. I am interested in understanding how inflammation and immunity control bacterial infections and to study the genes/mechanisms that allow bacteria to evade killing by antibodies and phagocytes. I am also interested in the interaction between cellular and humoral adaptive immunity and in receptors and soluble mediators used by the immune system to control bacterial infections. I have been involved in the discovery and/or functional characterization of many bacterial virulence and/or immune-evasion genes as targets for live attenuated vaccine candidates. I have also combined traditional tools with forefront genome-wide approaches to understand bacterial adaptation to the host immune response in vivo and to discover vaccine candidates that are safer in immune-compromised individuals. My research has pioneered and used innovative multidisciplinary approaches, which combine immunology, microscopy, molecularly tagged microbial subpopulations and mathematical modeling, to study bacterial infection dynamics in vivo. This allowed my research group to unravel the impact of immunity, vaccination and antibiotics on pathogen behaviour at the single cell level. These approaches, are revolutionizing the study of many bacterial infections in vivo, are enabling scientists to move away from compartmentalized approaches and are yielding a global understanding of infection biology. I have also been involved in other research areas within infection, including the interplay between bacteria, autoimmune diseases and cancer.

Chrissanthy Papadopoulou is Professor in Microbiology at the University of Ioannina (UOI) Greece, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences. She received BSc in Veterinary Medicine, MSc in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and PhD in Microbiology from AUTH, Greece. She started her academic career (1984) with a tenured lectureship at the Department of Microbiology, Medical School, UOI and from then onwards she advanced her career through the positions of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor. She has been trained through long or short sabbaticals in LSHTM and CPHLS (UK), University of Bonn and University of Cologne (Germany). She is Member of several scientific committees at national and international level, including EU Indepedent Expert, EU National Representative, INTAS expert evaluator, EACEA expert evaluator, Ad hoc Expert for the Republics of Cyprus and Slovakia, Invited Indepedent Expert for the New Eurasia Foundation, Member of the Pool of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the European Commission Health and Consumers Directorate General (Public Health and Risk Assessment), Member of the ESCMID and the Food & Water-borne Infections Study Group (EFWISG), Diplomate of the ECVPH and member of the ECVPH Credentials Committee. She has authored numerous publications in international and national peer-reviewed journals and she is invited reviewer in 51 international scientific journals.

Her research interests are focused on the detection, identification and antibiotic resistance of pathogens transmitted from animals to humans through the food-chain and is supporter of the One Health initiative.

Paul Kadetz is the Robert Fisher Oxnam Professor of Science and Society at Drew University in the US. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Liverpool in China and an Associate and Lecturer of the China Centre for Health and Humanity, University College London. Paul is a Medical Anthropologist and a clinician who completed his doctorate in International Development at The University of Oxford. Paul served as a research consultant and a facilitator and rapporteur for The Western Pacific Region Office of The World Health Organization. Paul has conducted and published research concerning: global health policy and safety, the impact of foreign aid on healthcare systems and healthcare challenges in China, The Philippines, Cuba, Guatemala, Madagascar and Morocco. His current research concerning the factors impacting antimicrobial resistance in rural Anhui, China is funded by The Medical Research Council in the UK and The National Science Foundation of China and. His co-edited volume, The Handbook of Welfare in China, was published by Edward Elgar in July 2017 and his co-edited volume published by Elsevier, Creating Katrina, Rebuilding Resilience: Lessons from New Orleans on Vulnerability and Resiliency is due out late Autumn 2017.

Paul's broad research interests include: The social and cultural determinants of antimicrobial resistance; safety and securitization of health; Assets-based and complex systems approaches to health interventions; and the political economy of health.
